This piece carries a deeply personal journey. I first painted the rose years ago for my sister, back when I was quietly pursuing art despite being told it wasn’t a “real” career. Recently, life brought the painting back to me during a difficult season for her. I chose to restore and reimagine it — layering new textures, light, and depth into what was once a simple rose.
The result is both old and new: a rose that has weathered time, loss, and renewal. It reflects my own path as an artist — the persistence to keep creating, the faith to bring beauty from hardship, and the reminder that even what seems broken can be made whole again.
