Butterfly Collection
This painting is inspired by my daughter, Livia, and by the young women of her generation who navigate a world saturated with images and selfies. In a culture that often pushes beauty as something external, Livia is a reminder to look inward — to find radiance in character, resilience, and faith.
The lush blooms that surround her are vibrant yet tender, suggesting growth, creativity, and the unfolding of identity. The mirror selfie, a recurring theme throughout the Butterfly Collection, is transformed here into a meditation on self-recognition. It is not about vanity, but about pausing to ask: What do I see when I look at myself?
I was honored that Livia was selected for a juried exhibition in downtown Dallas, Letting in the Light (May 2025). Sharing this piece publicly was a celebration of both my artistic journey and the inspiration of my daughter — a reflection of beauty that is deeply personal and universal all at once.
